London, 29 May 2024 – Cadence Distribution today announced a new collaboration with Western Electric, a pioneering American manufacturer known for its high-quality vacuum tubes and inventive audio equipment. With this new partnership, Cadence Distribution becomes the new exclusive distributor for Western Electric in the UK and Ireland.
Established in 1869, Western Electric is an American manufacturer with an enduring relationship with quality. Western Electric was re-established in 1992 for the exclusive manufacture of electron tubes and high fidelity. Today their Rossville Works facility handles continuous production of the famous 300B electron tube, amplifier equipment, and development of new products.
Cadence Distribution, with over 70 years combined sales and hi-fi development experience, is proud to announce a new collaboration with Western Electric. This new partnership comes at a time when Western Electric is preparing new amplifier equipment to reach music lovers at every level, from vacuum tube aficionados to hi-fi newcomers.
Western Electric’s roots in hi-fi reach back to the beginning with the advent of the vacuum tube, a device that formed the core of early electronics through the 1950s. The Western Electric name was synonymous with radio, telephones, and the invention of electronic sound recording and reproduction as we know it. Fuelled by intense demand from 1920s Hollywood movie producers, Western Electric engineers developed the first end-to-end high-fidelity sound systems. For the first time, immersive, lifelike sound was available to moviegoers worldwide. By 1938, when the 300B triode was first commissioned, Western Electric had long since defined the standards of thermionic tube manufacturing. The mission to create the best possible listening experiences through research and innovation continues to this day.
Following the release of their flagship integrated amplifier the 91E in 2022, Western Electric is introducing two new amplifier families, the 80 Series and the 100 Series. Cadence Distribution is excited to share new information on these products for the UK and Ireland in the coming months.
